Inspired by the Jian-Kang Public Housing’s design elements and the Fu-Lian 5th Village’s historical legacies, we transmuted the imagery of potted plants and flower-pattern hollow bricks commonly seen in military dependents’ villages into sui generis geometric patterns, and then woven them into Flower-Brick Cluster, a work consists of flower-shaped lamps and bench-like installations. These interlinked hollow bricks radiate an aura of home, evoking specific cultural and historical associations for the local residents.
